Hurley

The first known member of the Hurley family is Timothy, who was born in Ireland, where the family originated. Later members of the family came to the United States after a a stopover for an undetermined amount of time in Merthyr-Tydfil, South Wales. We have not been able to determine the exact time that they came, but Susan Hurley Corbran (one of the descendents) has estimated that Michael Hurley and his family emigrated to the United States between 1867 and 1869. Some of these people have been located on the 1870 census. Much of the information which Susan has put together was done with the help of a man named Sean Dugan, who helped her both find information in Wales and to locate the family in Pittsburgh.
