Margaret Jane McAnn was born on August 1, 1874. She connected the McAnn family to the Brierton family when she married Harry Joseph Brierton. She is the daughter of James Paul McAnn and Margaret Kiellian.

Margaret Jane McAnn and Harry Joseph Brierton were married sometime in or before early 1900. They lived in various sections of Brooklyn, New York, where he was active in Brooklyn politics. For some time they lived at 634 42nd Street, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, across from Sunset Park and a few blocks from Greenwood Cemetery.

Harry Joseph Brierton, Sr and Margaret Jane McAnn had 2 children; Harry Joseph Brierton, Jr., and Marguerite Agatha Brierton.

After her husbands death in November of 1909, she moved to South Ozone Park. She acquired or started a General Store on Woodhaven Blvd. and was appointed Postmistress for her area.

She seems to have been relatively successful after her husbands death as she and Marguerite frequently vacationed in New Jersey through at least the early 1920's.

She died on March 14, 1928, of a Cerebral Hemorage after slipping down a flight of stairs and is buried in the family plot at Holy Cross Cemetery.
