John Patrick Hurley was the first member of his line of the family to be born in the United States. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on March 7, 1869, and lived in the area his entire life.
On September 17, 1899, he married Mildred Ellen Ancell. John and Mildred had two children, Edward Leo (1903) and John Patrick, Jr. (1906).
According to the 1900 Census, he was employed as a Puddler and in the 1930 Census, he was employed as a Watchman. The date of his death is not currently known.
