Sarah Catterton was the daughter of Michael Catterton and Dilah, and was born in Calveton, Maryland, on November 15, 1755. She married Edward Ancell, sometime before 1771 when thier first child, Edward C. Ancell, was born.

Edward and Sarah had 11 known children, Edward C. (1771), Ann (1775), Henry (1776), Nancy Ann (1776), Robert (1779), William M. (1784), Michael (1786), James (Jun 27, 1789), Mary (1792), Elizabeth (1793), and John (1794).

Sarah died in 1832, in Orange, Virginia.
